COMPREHENSIVE EXAMS AND ROUTINE CHECKUPS
The comprehensive dental exam sets a baseline of your health to catch any early signs of serious dental illness. Signs and symptoms of dental problems such as cavities and gum disease can be detected during a comprehensive oral evaluation and treatment solution formulated and optimized for your oral health.
DENTAL X-RAYS and Imaging
At Dental Wellness of Charlotte, your oral health is evaluated with Digital Dental Imaging using ultra low dose radiation. The advanced imaging aids in early dental disease detection and minimally invasive treatment for your best oral health
Dr. Shirman offers minimally invasive tooth extractions and bone grafting for patients. Bone grafting is a procedure performed to replace bone loss in the jaw that anchors teeth to prepare the site for dental implant placement.
GUM DISEASE TREATMENT
You may not know you have gum disease or Periodontitis. Untreated or undiagnosed gum disease will lead to loss of teeth or other serious health complications. You can feel confident Dr. Shirman and his team look for signs of this condition and formulate treatment options for your best outcome. The main goal of treatment is to control the infection. Types of treatment will vary, depending on the extent of the gum disease. Any type of treatment requires that the patient keeps up good daily care at home.
Composite white fillings offer the ability to effectively deal with cavities while maintaining the cosmetic appeal of a bright, white smile. They are created to match your tooth to ensure a natural look and feel. There are many types of dental materials used for white fillings and just like cars, dental fillings aren’t the same. Dr. Shirman stays current with the latest dental material advancements and research for you to show off that beautiful white smile.
NiGHTGUARDS AND JAW THERAPY
Did you notice your front teeth became shorter than what they used to be? Do you feel tight jaw muscles or tension in the neck or shoulders? Are your teeth chipping away? Do you experience frequent headaches, migraines, and ringing in the ears? If yes then you might be grinding your teeth. At Dental Wellness of Charlotte, we believe in the value of preventative care. Nightguards orthotic oral appliances are one of the ways we can prevent you from damaging your teeth and jaw joints. Since you only get one set of permanent teeth, allowing them to be ground down is unwise and may become very costly. The discomfort you will suffer and the cost you will incur to repair your teeth is simply not worth skipping out on this easy, preventative measure.
SPORT MOUTH GUARDS
If you play a contact sport, you risk injuring your teeth. Mouthguards can protect you from some serious sporting injuries, such as broken jaws, fractured, cracked or knocked-out teeth, cut lips and tongues.
A mouthguard that is custom-fitted at Dental Wellness of Charlotte is far superior to an over-the-counter mouthguard because it’s specially designed to fit the exact contours of your mouth, is resilient, balances your bite, and allows speech and normal breathing. If properly used, stored, and checked by Dr. Shirman every year, a custom-fitted mouthguard should last several seasons. A mouthguard can be made with various colors to match your style.
Fluoride, a mineral that helps prevent caries and can repair teeth in the very early, microscopic stages of the disease. If you, or a family member, are at a moderate-to- high risk of developing caries, a professional fluoride treatment can help. The fluoride preparation used in the dental office is a much stronger concentration than that in toothpaste or fluoride mouth rinses that may be available in a store or at a pharmacy. Professional fluoride treatment generally takes less than one minute. Depending on your oral health status, fluoride treatments may be recommended every three, six or 12 months.
HAPPY CHILD VISITS
Dr. Shirman educates and assists your children, leaving them with a better and brighter smile! Keeping your child’s teeth healthy is as important as routine visits for adults. This is how a positive dental experience is created by avoiding dental problems and invasive procedures through prevention.
WISDOM TEETH REMOVAL
Most people need their wisdom teeth removed because there isn’t enough space for them to come in properly. They tend to come in at an angle or they don’t fully emerge. Third molars (the wisdom teeth) routinely damage the teeth right next door, called second molars.
ROOT CANAL THERAPY
Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth. When one undergoes root canal therapy, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed.
Teeth can be lost to gum disease, decay, or injury. Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and benefit your appearance and your health.
A dental crown is a “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. A crown might be needed to protect a decayed tooth from more damage, to restore an already broken tooth, to hold a dental bridge in place, to cover a severely discolored tooth.
INLAYS OR ONLAYS
Inlays and Onlays are a form of indirect restoration, which means they are made outside of the mouth as a single, solid piece that fits the specific size and shape of the cavity, and then cemented in place in the tooth.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap (these anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and a false tooth or teeth in between.

It is also a savings plan that allows our clients to receive quality dental services at reduced rates. There are NO DEDUCTIBLES, NO YEARLY MAXIMUMS, and NO WAITING PERIODS to begin your dental treatment. Your benefits start as soon as you sign up.
I need a lot of dental work done, but it’s too expensive, can I just wait?
When you consider your dental treatment needs, I want you to remember no-one dies from loosing teeth. If you decide to wait, we will always take care of you in hygiene; each time you come in for hygiene we will give you an update on the conditions in your mouth. Most people who decide to wait usually do so for financial reasons. But the same financial concerns always exist in the future, so waiting will not solve the problem. And these conditions will not go away on their own. By waiting, they will continue to advance and the treatment needed will become more involved over time, with potentially higher costs later on. It is important to understand that, just like a car or your home, dentistry is a need that has a long-term value. Anything worthwhile that lasts a long period of time is always financed on a monthly basis. Since waiting will likely result in higher future costs, we can help you make arrangements to finance your dentistry now with affordable monthly payments. Use this link to apply for CareCredit.
