Composite white fillings offer the ability to effectively deal with cavities while maintaining the cosmetic appeal of a bright, white smile.

Teeth can be lost to gum disease, decay, or injury. Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and benefit your appearance and your health.

A dental crown is a “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. A crown might be needed to protect a decayed tooth from more damage, to restore an already broken tooth, to hold a dental bridge in place, to cover a severely discolored tooth.

Inlays and Onlays are a form of indirect restoration, which means they are made outside of the mouth as a single, solid piece that fits the specific size and shape of the cavity, and then cemented in place in the tooth.

A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap (these anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and a false tooth or teeth in between.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am unsatisfied with the appearance of my front teeth. Can you help?

Absolutely! Dr. Shirman offers a number of cosmetic treatments for Matthews, NC and Greater Charlotte Area patients. The one that is right for you depends on your smile, budget, and your personal goals.

Do I qualify for dental implants?

Many patients are eligible for dental implants. If your tooth loss is recent and you are in good oral and overall health, chances are good that you are, too. Schedule an appointment to find out for sure.

What Kind of Sedation Do you offer?

For patients who need a little help relaxing at the dentist, we offer nitrous oxide sedation. Also known as laughing gas, it helps you to feel comfortable (and maybe even happy!) during your dental treatment.

I have my own x-ray and know that I need a root canal and crown done. How much do you charge?

Every root canal and crown is not the same, just like cars. Root canals can have multiple canals, crowns can require post-core for strengthening the tooth. While we can gladly use your x-ray if it is of diagnostic quality and was taken very recently (not last year), we still would need to see you to provide you with an accurate estimate. The better questions to ask are how many continuing education classes has the dentist taken in the past year or which labs and materials do you use for the crowns. Just like with the auto industry, there are after-market parts for your car, dentists can use knock-offs and “after-market” parts for your teeth. At Dental Wellness of Charlotte, we work with the best local labs and use the best materials available in the market today. Dr. Shirman is dedicated to life-long learning and has taken 92 continuing education credit hours in the past year alone (2020-2021); the minimum requirements for the state of North Carolina are 15 continuing education credit hours per licensing period. While our prices are standard for the area of Charlotte we focus on quality, experience, and comfortable treatment.

Do You Offer Adult Braces?

Dental Wellness of Charlotte is pleased to offer two options in orthodontic treatment: traditional metal braces and Invisalign, clear braces for adults and children. Both use the same orthodontic principles to realign teeth, but Invisalign does so without visible hardware.

Can adults get dental Sealants too?

Yes! While we usually recommend dental sealants for children, who especially benefit from cavity prevention, dental sealants can provide needed help for adults who are at a higher risk of tooth decay, too.

How Can I prevent gum disease?

Gum disease is easily prevented with regular dental hygiene at home, including brushing for two minutes, at least twice a day (though after each meal is better) and flossing daily. In addition to good hygiene, visiting your dentist for a checkup and cleaning every six months is important for keeping gum disease at bay.

Do you take insurance?

Dental Wellness of Charlotte accepts cash, personal checks, and all major credit cards. We also accept most insurance plans.

What If I don't have insurance?

No insurance is no problem! We want to remove obstacles to the access of care for all of our clients and yet deliver the same level of top-tier treatment.

Our Dental Wellness Club is an annual dental service membership program optimized for the improved dental health of children and adults. It is also a savings plan that allows our clients to receive quality dental services at reduced rates. There are NO DEDUCTIBLES, NO YEARLY MAXIMUMS, and NO WAITING PERIODS to begin your dental treatment. Your benefits start as soon as you sign up.

I need a lot of dental work done, but it’s too expensive, can I just wait?

When you consider your dental treatment needs, I want you to remember no-one dies from loosing teeth. If you decide to wait, we will always take care of you in hygiene; each time you come in for hygiene we will give you an update on the conditions in your mouth. Most people who decide to wait usually do so for financial reasons. But the same financial concerns always exist in the future, so waiting will not solve the problem. And these conditions will not go away on their own. By waiting, they will continue to advance and the treatment needed will become more involved over time, with potentially higher costs later on. It is important to understand that, just like a car or your home, dentistry is a need that has a long-term value. Anything worthwhile that lasts a long period of time is always financed on a monthly basis. Since waiting will likely result in higher future costs, we can help you make arrangements to finance your dentistry now with affordable monthly payments. Use this link to apply for CareCredit.
